Start your tour with a close-up look at the technology of modern candy making in the video theatre. Then take a walk through the inside of the factory where you'll get to see the Molding Plant, which makes up to 500 pieces a minute; the Packing Room, where each chocolate is carefully hand packed; and the Specialty Room, where their confectionary creations take form. Little is known of Canadians who were home educated as students, particularly as they compare to their Canadian adult peers who were educated in publicly-funded and private schools. Are they as engaged as their peers in democratic, cultural, and economically productive activities? How do their income levels and income sources compare? Are they more or less likely to pursue postsecondary education, to be involved in their communities, to be physically active? How do they evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of their home education experience? This study provides a demographic and lifestyle snapshot of these young adults and offers an initial description of some of the indicators of the outcomes of the first generation of home education in Canada. The study followed up with Canadian survey participants fifteen years after they first shared information about their home education practices, family demographics, and academic achievements (Ray, 1994). It describes their current education level, occupation, community participation, religious observance, income, life satisfaction, recreational pursuits, and family status, and compares these with those of the general adult population of Canadians in the same age group. We also asked graduates to reflect on their home education experience and how it prepared them for their future.

One of the state's newest seaside parks, Avalon has more than a mile of increasingly rare undeveloped beachfront. The park provides habitat for many species of wildlife. Threatened and endangered sea turtles, like the loggerhead, Atlantic green, and leatherback, nest on the beach during the spring and summer. Dune crossovers protect the fragile dune ecosystem. They welcome swimmers, snorkelers, fishermen and sunbathers for beach recreation.

The Cedar Key Historical Society was established in 1977 by a group of citizens dedicated to preserving the long and rich history of Cedar Key. The museum opened its doors in 1979 in the historic Lutterloh building on the corner of 2nd street and SR24. Exhibits include prehistoric and Native American artifacts, the 2nd Seminole Indian War, the Civil War, the cedar pencil and lumbering industries, maritime activity prior to Tampa’s development as a port and the seafood industry up to today’s successful clam aquaculture. There is also an extensive collection of old Cedar Key photographs in the archives.

The Anita S. Wooten Gallery is a teaching gallery dedicated to enhancing student understanding and appreciation of art and providing both students and the extended community exposure to a diverse agenda of visual art forms from regional artists. Exhibitions are free and open to the public.

Clay Virtual Academy (CVA) is a K-12 public school providing elementary, middle, and high school academic programs to Florida residents for FREE. All of the courses are fully on-line and meet Next Generation Sunshine State Standards. As a Clay County District School, Clay Virtual Academy is a SACS accredited diploma granting institution. All Clay Virtual Academy courses are taught by Instructors who are Florida certified in their fields. Teachers regularly communicate with students and parents via phone, email, and online discussions. CVA is different because we also offer face-to-face tutoring options during the school week at our state of the art technology center located on the campus of the Orange Park High School Annex.

The National Center for Fair & Open Testing (FairTest) works to end the misuses and flaws of standardized testing and to ensure that evaluation of students, teachers and schools is fair, open, valid and educationally beneficial. They place special emphasis on eliminating the racial, class, gender, and cultural barriers to equal opportunity posed by standardized tests, and preventing their damage to the quality of education. Based on Goals and Principles, they provide information, technical assistance and advocacy on a broad range of testing concerns, focusing on three areas: K-12, university admissions, and employment tests. FairTest publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Examiner, plus a full catalog of materials on both K- 12 and university testing to aid teachers, administrators, students, parents and researchers. They also have numerous fact sheets available on standardized testing and alternative assessment.
